Canada lost 17,700 jobs in April and the unemployment rate rose to a six-month high:

• Employment: -18K; second consecutive month of little variation. Losses in full-time jobs (-47K), offset only by gains in part-time (+29K). Net overall decline YTD concentrated in full-time work (-111K).

• Unemployment Rate: +0.2% to 6.9%, a six-month high.
