Canadian employment fell for a second consecutive month, and the unemployment rate edged up:
- Employment: Fell by 68K, split between full-time (-35K) and part-time (-33K). Losses were concentrated among youth aged 15 to 24 (-48K) and women aged 25 to 54 (-28K). Year-over-year, employment was up by 95K.
- Unemployment Rate: The rate rose 0.1 percentage points to 6.5%, matching its level at the start of the year (6.5% in January).
