Following a strong increase in April, employment held steady in May (+28,000). The unemployment rate dropped to 5.4% with the number of job seekers decreasing after little change over the last three months. Compared to May 2018, employment grew by 2.4% (+453,000) due to gains in both full-time (+299,000) and part-time (+154,000) work.
